LOVE HAS AN OPEN ENDING - PART 2 : JUST LIKE FIREWORKS

First love is like a flower. Beautiful, elegant and brittle. Just like a flower, it adds a new fragrance to your life. And just like a flower, it withers away. Slowly it fades as you and the other one is experiencing new things in a new environment. It takes a lot of care and maturation if you want to hold onto it. And that's what happened to Ray and Jaz. After he left, for a couple of months the young couple tried to hold onto the bridge, but soon because of the distance, the bridges started to fall. Distance makes people distant, especially in younger age as you meet new people and your heart is vulnerable. They faught, they cried and finally all the bridges in between them came crashing down. The flower withered away as the season of first love ended.

Ray was scorned, his love was gone. His heart was not ready for love and heartbreakup for like a couple of years. Finally the day came when he joined college. New people, new aura and a new place. Everyone here had no pre conceptions about anyone here. It was a new world to explore. His heart was healed and ready to fall in love again. His eyes excited to look around at soo many new faces, potential candidates. And at that exact moment, the room got dark, a spotlight falls on a girl and the time became slow. Slowly, glowing under the spotlight a short girl, with a cute smile and nerdy glasses passed by him. Her eyes glittering, her hair effortlessly flowed with her scent . She notices his gaze and slighty turns towards him and smiles. And thats it, Ray sees fireworks shooting into the sky  behind her, like magic . He knew ot wasn't real, but the heart made him weak. He sat down holding his breath, the girl was a firecracker, that explode into his heart and left it troubled. " Is this seat taken?" She said looking straight into his eyes. He turns around to check if there is anyone else or is she talking to him? " Oh! This? No no. Will you sit here?" His vocabulary became sluggish, whats happening? How can he be soo lucky? " That's why I am asking." She smiles and parks her bag onto the bench beside him. As she sits, strands of her long black hair fell onto her face which she carefully picks and tucks behind her ear. Even this small details made his heart race. "Hi! I am Ray." He extends his hand to shake. She looks at his flustered face and smiles. " Hi…I am Krissy." She extends her hand and holds his hands to shake. The connection became instant as they held hands and locked their eyes.

For a long time, they were friends. The chemistry was perfect but in a way both were a little scared. What if the other one refuses and their beautiful bond of friendship is also crushed in action? They talked evryday, finding time from their busy schedule to meet. They told each and everything to each other. And after few weeks, " Krissy, I don't want to loose you to another man and if I hesitate more, I might always be that bestfriend. Maybe if you are ready, I would love to be your man." He was ready to give his all to her. After a weekend picnic he proposed. Taking lessons from the past, he didn't wanted to waste time. And a simple "Yes" from her made his day. He had fireworks ready in the picnic area and as they hug as a couple for the first time, the sky lit up with the fireworks like his eyes when he saw her on the first day of college. He felt like a king, ready to give the world to her queen.

This true love was different than his first love. They weren't kids anymore. It was more magical, physical and passionate. Early years of college, every guy hits on any girl, no matter if he has to dethrone her king. Because of that, problems arise. The king has to protect his turf from constant invasions. Ray was full on love driven and was ready for war. He passionately faught the endless wars to save his love from other guys, rumors, the female friends of his queen and even the seniors. He was, by now totally sure he was the victor. But suddenly, the fights began. Smallest reasons became bigger fights. Krissy was on a constant mood of denial and started pushing him off. "What did I do?" Frustrated, he asked her what she wanted. He was committed, ready to change his life around at a command. "That's the problem you don't know. You never know. You know what? I am done. It isn't you it's me. I can't hold on to this anymore!" Krissy turned away, not even wanting to look at his face. Ray was confused. Everything was almost perfect the previous day. What happened in just 24 hours? His mind went blank, the eyes became moist. It was like a wall, which he made piece by piece, was coming down infront of him. For days he tried to reason, he tried to save his sinking relationship. But what can he do when the other side was not even trying to save it. Or worse, she was unapologeticaly trying to smother it.

The breakup needs a closure in early part of life. When you are told everything in life has a reason. It's when you grow up that you understand, life is just as absurd as love. A break up of true love hurts like a truck. Even the sight of that person hurts you in places you never thought can hurt. Ray skipped even classes as he was too weak to even look at her. His life became a train wreck. He wanted answers and she gave him none. But in college, their is nothing like personal life. News flow like wildfire. That's how after few months, he got the reason he was searching for. Krissy had a boyfriend before she joined college. They partially broke up when she joined college. And on that unfortunate day, they decided to mend their bridges and she mercilessly demolished the new building Ray formed. That gave him an answer. A reason. A final verdict. Now he understood what "it isn't you, it's me" meant. Within the endless talks, she never mentioned this other guy. Soo how could he fight something he didn't even saw coming at the first place? And finally, he decided to move on. The heart was torn apart. But at least he had a reason now. The heart, broken into many pieces was ready to become stone.

In this age, love feels like fireworks. It gives you seconds of sheer amazement but it becomes black sky afterwards. Everytime you meet someone, it feels like fireworks, but you learn your lesson and know it ends sooner than it starts. So, you become a person with many broken pieces of heart, capable of loving different person with a different piece. That's what Ray did. After this, once in a few months, he dated some girls with each of his broken heart piece. But the small pieces didn't allowed him to make a commitment. In a way he was scared. If again something like this might happen, the heart pieces might become so small that they even lose the feeling to love. So, like fireworks he joined short relationships and like firworks, moved on as the sky became dark. Love was a short term investment to him now. Until something drastic happened in his life.
