THE TOYMAKER'S DAUGHTERS
Once upon a time there lived a toy maker in a far off land.He used to live in a small house with his two daughters. The elder daughter was as white as snow...with a charming smile which stretched from ear to ear.Her hair as yellow as gold shimmered brilliantly whenever she moved.Wherever she went she exuded light and happiness.Nearby people came to just see her magnetic beauty and the bright light of happiness she gave wherever she went. The younger daughter however, was the complete opposite. She was pale like a ghost, her hair dark as night sky without a moon.Wherever she went, pitch darkness followed her.Even the brightest rooms were engulfed in darkness as she entered. The very people who came running to her sister... steered away from even the sight of her. They feared her, loathed her existence and wished they never crossed paths with her.
The toy-maker used to make different types of dolls. They were so lifelike that they looked like having their own consciousness. He loved to make toys for his daughters, to see them smile and be happy. But every doll he made, the elder daughter took them all and played with them from the dusk till dawn. She cheered, laughed and radiated happiness all over the place. Her smile and laughter filled every other person's hearts with happiness. The younger daughter never took a single toy from her father. Even if she would have taken, who would have played with her? So she slumbered in her loneliness, even after her father's many tries to fill her void with new toys.
The elder daughter played with the toys day and night. The best ones were often the first to get damaged and torn. But there were no shortage of dolls to play with. Hence, she threw them away and started playing with others. The toy-maker used to take these damaged ones and throw them in a pit outside the house. One day, when he went towards the pit to throw the withered dolls, he noticed that the pit was empty! Everything he threw were being taken by someone."Who might be taking the broken, old and shabby dolls?" He thought. But it was none of his concern as those were old. So he couldn't care less about the situation and kept dumping the damaged dolls there.
One fortunate night he heard some noises coming out of the room of his younger daughter. The sound was faint but how can a father not recognize his daughter's voice! He inched closer to the door. And now he can hear his lonely, sad and quite daughter in an ecstatic mood, playing her hearts out. It was a matter of shock for him! He never heard her voice like this before. Her laughter were faint but soothing in the night when no other sound interrupted her. Overjoyed by this feeling, he flung the door open only to find darkness. Amidst that darkness a pale face with two bright eyes and a smile which he never thought he would ever see. "I was waiting to see you happy for so long dear" he smiled and reached for her head, caressing her dark black hair. She smiled at her dad and said,"You want to see what I made daddy?" Her eyes glistening like a full moon. "Ofcourse my child". As these words came out of his mouth, the dark mist which engulfed the room gradually started lifting and what he saw was astonishing!
It was her! His youngest one. She took all the dolls from the pit and mended them. She carefully stitched every torn parts and replaced the broken ones. The dolls were shining magnificently in that low lit room. They were placed on a beautiful table, decorated with everything nice. She dusted them, polished them and made them look better than before. The toy-maker couldn't believe how the then withered and damaged toys could look so beautiful. "You are special my child, extremely gifted." he said engulfing her into his arms. "Wait till everyone see how precious you are. You will never be loathed like before ever again." He was excited to reveal how talented her daughter was. But, as soon as he uttered these words, dark mist again started to hide the gorgeous scene like a curtain. "I... I don't want that daddy. I want nothing to change. I like being the enigma I am to this world. If people know whats behind this enigma.... they won't play with big sister anymore. They will prefer playing with these and hamper the efforts I made to restore these. I like my table to be unknown. This will make both of us sad. She likes to play and spread joy. I like to repair and preserve. I don't want people's affiliation to be happy. I am happy... and so is sister. Let it be like that please." Tears started dripping down her cheeks. The toy-maker admired her thoughts. "Oh my child. When did you grew so big and smart." He kissed her pale, cold forehead. "You are so misunderstood my precious. I wish you get everything you want." He turned to get out of the room when he felt a slight tuck on his shirt. "Umm... dad." he turns to see her extending her other hand towards him with a doll. "This was big sis's favourite one. It got damaged early because she played with this everyday. I umm.. fixed and made it better. Please give this to her. But don't tell her I gave this. She is too innocent and nice. She won't accept if she knew I worked hard to repair it and return it. But some toys are meant to be played again and again." The toy-maker pats her head and accepts the gift." It will be our little secret. Don't worry." He comes out of the room teary eyed and a heart full of love and affection.
So that's how the toy-maker named GOD makes lifelike toys and giver her elder daughter, LIFE to play with. When they get old and damaged, he give them to her younger daughter DEATH to mend and rejuvenate them. From there, DEATH gives the best ones back to her father so that LIFE can play with them again and spread eternal joy. People still despise DEATH and her never ending darkness. But that is what makes their time with LIFE even more special. The cycle of time binds them in a loop which we call existence. And in a loop..... there is no start. Hence, there is no end.
